I’m sure some of you have heard of microbeads, small bits of plastic in our facial scrubs and body washes. I’m sure you’ve bought them, I know I have. Well exfoliating is important, but they can’t be filtered out of the treatment facilities, so they go straight to your favorite local body of water. They were recently banned in Illinois and New York is working on it too.
But surprise, they’re also in toothpaste!
Moral of the story: check the ingredients of your products. I bought a natural facial scrub from Netrogena this past weekend. Microbead free. Lake Champlain ain’t getting no microbeads from me!
